Newsletter: February 2026
President's Report

While it’s often hard to see the good in our country right now, I’d like to invite everyone to take a step back and look for that ray of light. Big message "Don't despair, but don't tune out!" For example, Wednesday was our weekly Blue Women’s walk. We are into our Fourth year of weekly walking but for the last two weeks it was so cold that we gathered for coffee instead of walking. Today we walked! Bundled up so much that I had to unzip my jacket the last lap. For an hour I wasn’t thinking about people being snatched off the street and put in concentration camps, the Epstein files being sort of released and victims identities being outed, etc. etc. I found that ray of light today and I hope that by remembering that feeling, I can get through the week.
Sticking this right at the top – Dues are due. We don’t do big fundraisers to pay for our mailings or meeting rentals. We just ask for dues once a year. This is that time of year! Dues are $15 a person. You can pay here ActBlue — Southern Lehigh Democratic Committee, or mail a check to SLDC, PO Box 365, Coopersburg PA 18036, or pay our ever present treasurer at meetings or events. Feel free to double donate too!
The SLDC February meeting on Wednesday February 11 at 6:30 will be a zoom one. This meeting will feature our PA State House and State Senate candidates. Each candidate will be asked three questions. If there’s time, we’ll open it up to viewers questions. Grab a beverage, put on some comfy clothes and sign in. We’ll send out a link to everyone who is subscribed to our newsletter. You may share with Dem friends.
There are seven candidates for US House district 7 and each of them will have a short video on the LCDC website, which we will share on our website too. We had hoped to have them on a live zoom at the meeting on Feb 11, but they had already RSVP’d to another event.
Get to know the candidates by going to meet and greets and checking out their websites. We’ll add more content when the candidates share more with us. We also expect many to stop in at our petition signings. Southern Lehigh Democrats - Candidate Information Spring 2026
