President's Report
There’s a lot of talk about how our party, the Democrats, are splintered and unable to work together. Let’s make that fake news. Please come to our October meeting where we can talk about what needs to be done between now and the November 3 election, and how our group, Southern Lehigh Democrats can make Southern Lehigh a better place. Please join me on Tuesday October 13 at 6:30 at Inspire, The Coopersburg Community Center, 538 Thomas Street, Coopersburg. We’re going to be in the community room so I’m going to need help to move tables and chairs. Come at 5:30 to help if you can. Snacks are welcome!
For Betty Lou’s pantry please bring to the meeting any or all the following: cans of hearty soup, jam or jelly and cereal.

News - Upper Saucon 2 voters will be voting at Friedens Church, 2451 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley, for the next two years, starting this election due to a renovation at the Upper Saucon Township building. The Lehigh County Board of Elections Referendum. This YES or NO question will be on the November 3rd Election ballot. Lehigh County Democrats have no stated recommendation on the initiative, urging voters to review and make their own decision. SLDC has created a reference webpage for this issue.

Sunday, October 11 Coopersburg Halloween Parade
Be a part of the Coopersburg Halloween parade with SLDC and Lehigh Valley for all! The theme is “Imagine the Headlines” With a float decorated with what the headlines could look like if we get different people in office. It’s a newspaper thing! Get out the vote (GOTV) canvassing – Drivers and snack donations needed for the weekends of October 17and 18, 24 and 25, and October 31 and November 1. We’re expecting buses of canvassers from out of the area. This is our chance to help the campaigns canvass without actually canvassing! More info at our meeting and online closer to the dates. October 17th - Indivisible Lehigh Valley Bethlehem is planning THREE high visibility events for NO KINGS on Saturday Oct. 17th in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton from 2 to 3 PM at major intersections. Common Cause will be providing signs / banners at each location along with Indivisible, so all you have to do is show up! The message for all NO KINGS nationwide is nonpartisan and focused on GETTING OUT THE VOTE AND POLL SECURITY!
Volunteers Needed
Plan to help out at the polls on election day, November 3. We need four poll greeters at every one of our eight polling locations and one or two poll observers inside each precinct – that’s a minimum of forty volunteers! After taking the training you will be asked to choose a shift. Make sure you set your preferred location no more than 5 miles away to stay in Southern Lehigh.

A ballot drop box in Southern Lehigh is expected, but not yet placed. (To be located at DeSales University). We're waiting for the final confirmation, but the installation date is supposed to be October 13th. These will be available 24/7. Ballots will be scanned as they are dropped in and photos (not biometric id's) will be taken. Please only drop off your own ballot. Stay tuned to our SLDC page or FB for up-to-date news on that, including a specific location on the campus.
Updates from the Treasurer
As we head into the busy election season, we have several voter mailings planned. While our wonderful volunteers donate their time to folding, stuffing, labeling, and preparing these mailings, the costs of printing, supplies, and postage add up quickly.
