President's Report

One more month of summer. Have you had a chance to get away?  I can’t stress enough how important it is to take a break from the craziness that is our world right now. Whether that’s a vacation, or just not watching the news, or attending Musikfest, I think the only way to be ready for  the all-important election in November is to take a break and recharge. So, assuming you’ve done that – here we go!

August 11 is our next SLDC meeting taking place at the Petzlold pavilion in Upper Saucon Township Park, 3231 Preston Lane, Center Valley 18034. Next to the pavilion is a walking path and a kids playground with new equipment. There is also a bathroom.  We’re easing back into meeting mode by starting with a salad and dessert social at 6pm with the meeting starting at 6:30 PM. Volunteers are needed to set up. Here’s a link for dessert and salad. https://grow.withlome.com/a/80845fa0-6522-4699-a80c-2f39af113d40    BYOB.

This meeting will focus on Data centers, our community and how our elected officials are dealing with them as well as what our state candidates, Mark Pinsley and Meriam Sabih might be able to do and what our US House candidate, Bob Brooks has to say. Please join local officials and candidates for this important discussion.

Big Blue Thank you to Canvass captain Amber Stern who has been canvassing for candidates and helped get volunteers for a recent Meriam Sabih canvass. Attending with her were Luis M, Casi S, Tom I and Jill H.

Thank you to Bob Martin and Carla Colangelo for coordinating with me to make our SLDC/ULDC Iron Pigs game happen. Too bad about the rain. Shout out to our own Coopersburg PCP, Shelley Sorenson-Bauder who threw the First Pitch on behalf of SLDC. Turns out Shelley knew ULDC’s First pitch person – Ed P, from athletic connections! In Other News

A sad goodbye to long time member, Nancy Becker who passed away July 12th. Nancy Becker Obituary (2026) - Bethlehem, PA - Connell Funeral Home, Inc. Nancy was a joyful woman who could always be counted on to bring baked goods to our events, address letters when asked and provided financial support without being asked. She walked with our women's group when she could and will be missed by all of us.
