President's Report
Hello Southern Lehigh!
We are less than three weeks out from the May primary election and I know many of us have not made up our minds on who we are going to vote for in the race for US House and State Senate. Our State representative office has just one candidate, Meriam Sabih. The other competitive election that is flying under the radar is for State Committee member. There are twelve people running for seven seats, including myself. (note - the State Committee election is the May primary as there is not a vote for these offices in November.) Do not sit this election out. As someone once said, "Primaries are like eating off the menu. The general election is like eating the leftovers."
Please join us for our last meeting of the season on Tuesday, May 12th 6:30 PM at Inspire, the Coopersburg Community center, 538 Thomas Street, Coopersburg. Poll greeters will be given lit and instructions and voters will be given suggestions on how they can help make an impact. Candidates will be invited to come and talk.

Community Service
Saturday, May 9 – Betty Lou’s Pantry Letter carriers’ food drive. 9 am – 2 pm. Benefits the Food Pantry located in the Inspire building where we meet. Betty Lou's: letter carrier food drive 2026
Emergency Rapid Response Network – The Lehigh Valley group who helps with immigrants and refugees has an ongoing need for non-food items and we can help. Please bring any of the following items to the SLDC May meeting. A volunteer drop-off location is also needed as well as a couple of people to deliver items to Allentown or Bethlehem on a monthly basis. Contact us at [email protected] for more information. Items needed are: toilet paper, menstrual pads, tampons, paper towels, bar soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent.

Saturday, June 7 – semi-annual Road clean-up of Preston Lane 10 am – 12 noon. Sign up at our meeting or contact [email protected]
Sunday, June 21 - 6th Annual Summer Picnic from 3 pm - 7 pm, Hopewell Park Pavilion.
Please note that we do not have meetings in June and July. We invite you to participate in our social and action events and actively work with candidates on their campaigns.
Volunteers Needed
While we have a poll greeter for all precincts and shifts on May 19th, it is always nice to have a companion greeter staffing to make the downtime more enjoyable. If you have some time to hang with a SLDC friend, contact [email protected]
